Family Therapy and Couples
$150 - $220 depending on clinician, and appointment length
When we work with a family or a couple, we may determine that a longer appointment time is necessary, plus family and couple work is more complex, requiring further skills, training and supervision. Our fee for this specialized service is discussed with you prior to engaging in services.
Phone Consultation| FREE
A 15 minute scheduled phone consultation to answer questions and discuss services, determine if it feels like a good fit. This is scheduled via the online schedule system.
Intake Session
Natalie $60 Kristen $130 Erin $150 Megan $180
After completing a consultation and determining that it is a good fit for everybody, a 50 minute intake appointment is scheduled with ONLY the parent to review the history of concerns, presenting issue, and impact on daily life and goals for our time together. I also review consent forms, privacy practices, expectations for counselling, how I practice, how I share information and what to expect. Sometimes this just takes an hour sometimes up to an hour and a half. In the case where you feel like we need more time to discuss your history and presenting concerns, a longer (hour adn twenty minute intake) can be scheduled. This situation would be discsused during the phone consultation.
In the case of separated or divorced parents, both parents must agree and consent to treatment unless otherwise stated in your custody agreement.
Individual Counselling for adults and teens & Play therapy
Natalie $60 Kristen $130 Erin $150 Megan $180
After completing an intake appointment, individual counselling appointments are scheduled. Individual counselling appointments and play therapy appointments are 50 minutes long.
For play therapy, I let the child determine their comfort level with the parent being in the room or not. We gradually work towards the parent leaving and the child having time on their own. It is helpful for parents to return 10 minutes prior to the end of the scheduled time to be part of our closing of the session. If it is identified during the intake that the child will not let the parent go, then we will discuss how the parent will be involved in the play therapy session.
Payment Method
Payment is collected at the end of each counselling session by cash, e transfer or credit card. Should you wish to pay by credit card the online booking system will send you via email an invoice that you can pay online and save your credit card on file for future sessions. Parents can also save the card for their child's sessions. We will also accept email money transfer and cash. Invoices and receipts are provided via email for your records and include your counsellors registration information on them for extended health claims. Any names changes to receipts are easily changed through my system, just let your counsellor know.
We do not direct bill. We require a credit card stored on file and this will be processed should a client no show or cancel with short notice.
MSP Coverage
You may have been referred by your doctor and you may be wondering whether this qualifies you for MSP coverage. Unfortunately, counsellors are not governed under the Health Professions Act and do not receive Health Care funding for our services. You can save your receipts and discuss with an accountant or tax professional as to whether they can be claimed during income tax time.
Other Funding Sources
Megan is an approved provider with the Crime Victim Assistance program and accepts autism funding.
Megan, Erin and Kristen are not contracted with any Employee and Family Assistance Programs. If you are curious why we don't work with most Employee Assistance Programs (Homewood Health, LifeWorks, etc): the answer is that such insurance companies do not reimburse counsellors for the full billable rate set out by our governing bodies (the BCACC & CCPA). Instead, they contract the work out to those counsellors willing to accept significantly (30%-50%) lower rates, and then the insurance companies pocket the difference. While we would wish to provide service to EAP-insured clients, it ultimately becomes a decision based on scruples and business principles. (Credit to Ron Depner for writing such a succinct explanation).
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Cancellations made after 24 hours and if you do not cancel and do not show up for your appointment you will be charged the full fee of the session.
